Creating a 6-Button Shirt with Hand-Woven Indian Madras

A special model co-planned by Mr. Shuhei Nishiguchi and Mr. Eiji Katano, who are regular patrons of Brooks Brothers. It is tailored with hand-woven Indian madras fabric, which is rarely seen today. The pattern is a bespoke design themed 'madras check that adults can wear chicly.' It features modern dark tones that differ from typical dark madras.

The fabric from the American fabric maker 'ORIGINAL MADRAS TRADING COMPANY' is produced in India, the birthplace of the madras check. Its authentic charm is appealing. It is a luxurious hand-woven fabric that takes incomparably more time than machine weaving. It has a texture like oxford cloth, and the more it is worn, the better the texture becomes. It recreates the 6-button specification once adopted by Brooks Brothers. When the first button is opened, it creates a different balance from the current 7-button design. Both the short-sleeve and long-sleeve versions feature a traditional fit that inherits the classic silhouette. The body width and sleeves are the most relaxed among Brooks Brothers.

'This is a standard coordination of a madras check shirt and American jeans, but I updated it by adding a twist to the silhouette. The softly silhouetted shirt has an '80s/'90s mood. By combining it with '70s-taste flared jeans, I have completed a style that mixes different eras. Even classic traditional items can be enjoyed in various ways depending on the interpretation. Although it's spring/summer, I intentionally paired it with western boots to add an accent to the feet.'

'Personally, I want to size up and wear this shirt loosely. Leave the collar unbuttoned and roll up the sleeves casually. It's good to fasten only the 3rd and 4th front buttons and throw it on with a rough impression. For pants, I chose chinos inspired by the 1940s US Army from Brooks Brothers' Made in USA collection. The shoes are also military-derived derbies, but I dared to choose British ones. I've always loved American traditional fashion, but my motto is not to stubbornly dress entirely in it from head to toe.'
