New Spin-off of 'I Want to Eat Your Pancreas' Announced, Pre-orders Now Open

Mimosa Books Co., Ltd. (Suginami-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director Tomoyo Teruyama) has announced the release of "PRESENT "NOT!!" FOR YOU" by Yoru Sumino, as the fourth installment in the "GIFT STORY-Birthday-" special edition book series, to be released on August 8, 2026 (Sat). This is a spin-off of the author's debut work and enduring bestseller "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas" (Futabasha), which continues to be loved 11 years after its release.

"GIFT STORY-Birthday-" is a series of special edition books designed as gifts, featuring newly written short stories for those celebrating birthdays, presented in special bindings. Popular book designer Naoko Nakui is in charge of the series' design. Beautiful books imbued with craftsmanship are delivered through the high skills of the printing and binding artisans who support the book production process.

Yoru Sumino

Debuted in 2015 with "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas." It became an exceptionally large bestseller for a newcomer. In 2023, received the 72nd Shogakukan Children's Publishing Culture Award for "Love and All the Rest." Other works include "I Had That Same Dream Again," "The Deer King," "Secret," the "Sanpo Mikimoto's Favorite Things" series, "This Feeling Will Be Forgotten Someday," and "Confession Strike." His 10th anniversary debut work, "Night Reverie," is scheduled for publication by Futabasha on July 22, 2026.

About "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas" and This Work

"I Want to Eat Your Pancreas" includes a short story written as an epilogue titled "To You Who Chase the Echoes of My Past." This work depicts two girls, Fuyumi and Anzu, who have deep connections with the characters from the main story, and was published in a non-sale booklet given to moviegoers of the animated film. "PRESENT "NOT!!" FOR YOU" is, like "To You Who Chase the Echoes of My Past," a story about Fuyumi and Anzu.

"To You Who Chase the Echoes of My Past" was passed down among fans as a work not included in collected volumes, but its full text was released on Futabasha's Yoru Sumino 10th Anniversary Official Website on July 3, 2026. Please enjoy it alongside this new work.
