Visualize Clothing 'Looseness' with Real-Photo Previews — unisize Launches 'Size Real-Photo Preview' Feature

Makip Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shingo Garimo; hereinafter 'Makip') has added the 'Size Real-Photo Preview' function to its apparel e-commerce size recommendation engine 'unisize (Unisize)', allowing users to check the 'looseness' of clothing through real-life reference images. The service will begin in June 2026.

The 'looseness of approximately +◯cm' is difficult to imagine based on numerical values alone. With this feature, users can now verify how loose a garment feels when actually worn by viewing reference photos of real people wearing the items. This reduces the common anxiety around 'choosing the right size' when shopping for clothes online, enabling users to make confident and satisfying size selections.

Development Background

Until now, Makip has used unisize to recommend clothing sizes that match users’ body types, using numerical data and silhouette visuals. However, while looseness was displayed numerically, it remained difficult for users to imagine the actual fit and feel of the garment when worn. To address this challenge, Makip developed the 'Size Real-Photo Preview' feature, which allows users to visually confirm looseness using real-life reference images.

- About the Feature In the unisize virtual fitting interface, users can tap the image icon located next to the 'looseness of approximately +◯cm' display. This will show real-life reference photos taken by Makip, categorized by the degree of looseness.

Reference images with looseness values close to the selected item will be displayed. For example, if an item has approximately 6cm of looseness, reference images showing 4cm and 9cm of looseness will appear side by side. By comparing the two images, users can estimate that the actual looseness of the item falls somewhere in between.

- Supported Categories As of June 2026, the supported categories are women’s T-shirts, skirts, pants, dresses, and outerwear. Makip plans to further细分 women’s categories and expand support to men’s apparel in the future.

Leveraging Makip’s extensive size data from domestic and international brands, unisize uses a proprietary algorithm (patent-pending) to estimate the most suitable size based on user body information.
