Announcement of Renewal Opening of Shoen Kyuan at Ueda Onsen, Nagano Prefecture

Ueda Onsen Shoen Kyuan will implement a phased renewal to offer a new accommodation experience that fuses Japanese tranquility with the worldview of 'shinobi' (ninja), under the concept of 'A lodging that connects Sanada Ninja culture to the future.'

This renewal is not merely a renovation, but an initiative to convey Ueda's history and culture to the future in an 'experiential form.'

Background of the Renewal

What do tourists seek when they visit Ueda? This project began by re-examining that very question.

In the current era, with the advancement of the internet and AI, it is possible to obtain a great deal of information before visiting. Amidst this, what is sought as a reason to actually visit a place is 'value that can only be experienced there.'

Ueda has a background as the stage for movies and history, and a unique culture of Sanada Ninjas. However, places where one can 'feel these as an experience' are still not sufficient.

Therefore, this facility will integrate history, culture, food, and space, and proceed with creating a lodging where guests can experience the history and culture of the Sanada Ninjas, passed down in Ueda, through their stay.

We will provide accommodations where guests can touch upon Ueda's stories and feel its charm.

About the Ninja Area

The Ninja Area consists of 6 rooms. Utilizing the texture of wood and soft lighting, it expresses a 'space of shinobi' where tranquility and tension coexist.

It incorporates 'historical experience-based accommodation演出' where the stay itself becomes a story, inviting guests into the world of shinobi.

Sanada Chaya Tsumugi

An 'experiential teahouse' for staying in Ueda and experiencing Sanada's history.

Through experiences such as dressing in ninja costumes or yukata, blowgun practice, and historical explanations via video, you can enjoy the culture unique to Ueda, a land associated with Sanada, and the world of shinobi with all five senses.

Furthermore, we offer hospitality that fuses the region's traditional herbal medicine culture with the worldview of shinobi. Through herbal teas and special dining experiences, you can gain a deeper understanding of Ueda's history and climate.
