Maruyama Mfg. Presents MUFB Technology at Japan-Colombia Agriculture Committee

Overview Maruyama Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Goji Uchiyama) participated in the "1st Japan-Colombia Joint Committee on Agriculture and Agricultural Investment" (hereinafter the "Joint Committee"), held in Bogota, Colombia, from April 23 to 24, 2026, to showcase its proprietary Ultra Fine Bubble (MUFB) technology.

The Joint Committee was established to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, following the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on agriculture signed in 2025. At the invitation of Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Maruyama presented its MUFB technology as a representative Japanese agricultural innovation.

Proposal for MUFB Technology in Agriculture Colombia is a major exporter of coffee and floriculture (ornamental plants), with flower cultivation thriving as a key industry, particularly in the highlands around Bogota. However, these agricultural sectors face challenges such as post-harvest loss, making production stability and quality improvement critical issues.

Maruyama's MUFB technology is characterized by its ability to instantly convert existing irrigation water into MUFB water containing ultra-fine bubbles on-site, adding significant value to the water itself.

Guided by the concept of "immediate availability whenever you need it," the design prioritizes ease of installation and responsiveness. In agriculture, it has been successfully commercialized, particularly in pump products, with a growing track record of adoption both domestically and internationally.

Maruyama proposed this technology as a solution to optimize cultivation environments and improve quality in floriculture through the simple approach of converting irrigation water into MUFB water.

Product Exhibition at the Reception During a reception held on the evening of April 23 at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan to Colombia, Maruyama exhibited MUFB-related products and traditional agricultural machinery. The company demonstrated the breadth and practicality of its technology, which drew significant interest from guests.

Market Confirmation through Field Surveys In conjunction with the Joint Committee, the company, led by its local subsidiary Maruyama Colombia (MCO), visited rose and carnation farms in Colombia. The team conducted hearings on water usage and cultivation management while introducing the high-value conversion of agricultural water using MUFB technology.

During the site visits, the team confirmed cases where Maruyama’s power sprayers had been in continuous use for over a decade, reaffirming the high evaluation of their durability and stable performance.

Future Strategy Maruyama is driving its business expansion in Colombia through its local subsidiary, Maruyama Colombia (MCO). Moving forward, the company intends to promote demonstration and adoption efforts while verifying suitability to local needs, aiming for sustainable business growth and contribution to Colombia's agricultural development.
