Eight years ago, in June 2018, Shiga-based 'Omi Aged Soy Sauce Ramen Junibunya' first entered the Tokyo market with a pioneering 'ramen scholarship' initiative.

Despite quickly becoming a popular destination in the highly competitive Takadanobaba and Waseda districts, it closed in October 2023, much to the regret of its fans, due to labor shortages.

Now, Junibunya is making its comeback in Sakurajosui, Setagaya-ku.

While the brand had only 7 stores in 2018, it now operates 15 stores nationwide, making this new Sakurajosui branch the 16th.

The menu includes popular items from the Waseda branch, such as 'Junibunya Ramen,' 'Soda-katsuo Ramen,' and 'Yuzu Soy Sauce Black.'

Staying true to its commitment to contributing to local communities through ramen, the new Sakurajosui branch is holding a promotion: five lucky followers of the store's Instagram account will win 'free fried rice for one year.'

About Omi Aged Soy Sauce Ramen Junibunya

Founded in Hikone, Shiga, as a ramen and tsukemen restaurant, Junibunya later perfected its chicken paitan ramen, which went on to win numerous championships in Kansai-based ramen grand prix (winning the Kansai Ramen Derby in both 2014 and 2015).

However, driven by the desire to showcase the proud local ingredients of its hometown, Shiga Prefecture, the owner collaborated with local soy sauce breweries to craft a signature soy sauce ramen perfectly suited for their dishes.
