Daito Kentaku Co., Ltd. and Showa Shokai Co., Ltd. have confirmed the effectiveness of their jointly developed 'Fan-equipped Peltier cooling vest,' currently provided to construction and supervision staff, following a demonstration experiment commissioned to Rikkyo University.
The experiment was jointly conducted by Professors Takayuki Ishiwata and Nobuhiro Yasumatsu of Rikkyo University, and Professor Hideto Tanaka of Matsuyama University. It confirmed that the combination of 'evaporative cooling via fans' and 'direct cooling via Peltier elements' effectively suppresses skin temperature increase, reduces subjective stress, and maintains cognitive function.
In a 32°C environment, the integrated use of Peltier element cooling suppressed skin temperature increase by approximately 0.5°C in both contact and non-contact areas (such as the upper arm), and improvements were also observed in cognitive function tests. Details of the study are scheduled to be presented at the 80th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine.
