MiraiKikai Inc. (Headquarters: Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, President: Toru Miyake) has established a new technical executive position, "Chief Engineer," appointing Toru Yagasaki to the role, and has also appointed Junichi Kasahara as auditor. Both appointments are effective June 25, 2026. This move strengthens the management system from both the perspective of technology development and governance oversight.
Our company develops and operates autonomous robots that function in harsh outdoor environments, including solar panel cleaning robots. As our business domains expand, the roles of a person responsible for overseeing technological development and an auditor for overseeing management are becoming increasingly important. The appointments of these two individuals will strengthen both aspects.
Establishment of Chief Engineer Position and Appointment
Chief Engineer Toru Yagasaki
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall technical direction in the mechanical systems domain of our company's products. The Chief Engineer position was newly established on June 25, 2026, with Toru Yagasaki appointed to this role.
Dr. Yagasaki spent approximately 36 years in research and development in the powertrain domain at Honda R&D Co., Ltd. and Honda Motor Co., Ltd., and received the Science and Technology Award (Development Division) from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in FY2024. He joined our company in July 2025 and has been overseeing the development of our products' mechanical systems (structure, mechanisms, mechanical elements). As Chief Engineer, he will oversee the overall design and development of our products' mechanical systems, in collaboration with the electrical, control, and software domains.
Currently, our company has three Ph.D. holders (Engineering), including Dr. Yagasaki. He will oversee the entire technology division and lead the mechanical development of our robots operating in harsh outdoor environments. His expertise in designing mechanisms that withstand harsh operating environments, cultivated through powertrain development for automobiles, is directly applicable to the development challenges of our robots.
Appointment of Auditor
Auditor Junichi Kasahara
Our company has one auditor, and Junichi Kasahara was appointed to this position at the 23rd Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders held on June 25, 2026.
Mr. Kasahara previously worked at The Fuji Bank, Ltd. (now Mizuho Bank, Ltd.) and served as a full-time auditor at SoftBank Mobile Corp. (now SoftBank Corp.). He currently also serves as Senior Ambassador for SoftBank Corp. He has experience in practical governance during periods of rapid corporate growth.
President's Comment
Toru Miyake, President and Representative Director, stated:
"Since our establishment, our mission has been to 'make robots commonplace through technology and liberate people from arduous labor,' and we have challenged ourselves with robots that operate in harsh environments. To continue this challenge, we need both the power to master technology and the discerning eye to govern. Dr. Yagasaki is an engineer who has consistently handled everything from basic research to mass production on the front lines of automotive development for 36 years. Mr. Kasahara has been involved in practical governance under an entrepreneur who has made bold decisions with a grand vision in a rapidly changing business environment. With both offensive technology and supportive auditing, we are now prepared to move to the next stage of growth."
