About the Sumida River Fireworks Festival

This is one of Japan's oldest fireworks festivals, originating from the "Ryogoku Kawabiraki" (Sumida River Opening Ceremony) that began in 1733 (Horeki 18).

In 2026, it will be the 49th event, with approximately 20,000 fireworks coloring the night sky over the Sumida River from 19:00 to 20:30 on Saturday, July 25th (First venue from 19:00, Second venue from 19:30).
