khb Higashinippon Broadcasting (headquartered in Taihaku-ku, Sendai City) received a Silver Award in the documentary category at the international "World Media Festivals" in Germany for its program "Telementary 2024 'Never Forget 3.11' 93: 100 Testimonies, Tsunami Evacuation Connecting Lives," which was produced and broadcast nationwide in March 2024. This marks khb's first award at this festival.
The award-winning program is a documentary that recreates evacuation actions at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake using CG, based on the testimonies of 100 residents who survived in the Minamihama Kadowaki district of Ishinomaki City, conveying lessons for tsunami evacuation.
Domestically, it received the highest honor, the "Prime Minister's Award," at the "66th Science and Technology Film Festival."
The "World Media Festivals" is Europe's largest international film festival, held in Germany since 2000, honoring outstanding content such as television programs.
In 2026, 803 works were entered from 34 countries and regions.
khb Higashinippon Broadcasting will continue to convey life-saving lessons, as a local broadcasting station that experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake, to the entire nation and the world.
