Introducing the Fluffy and Creamy 'Fuwatama Unagi Don' This Year

Matsuya Foods Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Musashino City, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazutoshi Kawara) announces the launch of 'Unagi Don' at its 'Matsuya' restaurants—serving gyūmeshi (beef bowls), curry, set meals, and other rice bowls—starting June 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

A luxurious flavor combining savory grilled eel generously coated with a special tare sauce and fluffy, creamy egg.

Alongside the newly introduced 'Fuwatama Unagi Don,' the 'Unagi Combo Gyūmeshi' will also be launched simultaneously.

The summer staple 'Unagi Don' returns once again this year. This marks its eighth release, and this year’s version elevates last year’s popular 'Unatama Don' by focusing even more on egg quality, upgrading it to the 'Fuwatama Unagi Don' with a soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture. The eel is grilled to a crisp exterior and tender interior, repeatedly glazed and grilled to enhance its aroma, then finished with a special tare sauce that stimulates the appetite. Additionally, the 'Unagi Combo Gyūmeshi,' a collaboration between Matsuya’s signature gyūmeshi and grilled eel, will also be available. This year’s 'Day of the Ox' falls on July 26.
