Rakuten Baseball, Inc. announced that TV personality Mieharu will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the "Rakuten Medical Head and Neck Cancer Overcoming Day" game against the Chiba Lotte Marines on Saturday, May 23rd. Mieharu has publicly shared his experience with hypopharyngeal cancer, a type of head and neck cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 4 two years ago but is now living a healthy life thanks to advances in cancer treatment and support from many people. He decided to participate to show his healthy self and emphasize that while treatments have advanced, early detection is crucial. He hopes this event will encourage people to get screened for head and neck cancer, which can be easily checked by an ENT specialist. Mieharu expressed joy at being able to throw the first pitch on the mound where he has cheered for the Eagles many times.
