Founded in 1615, the long-established cotton merchant Eirakuya will hold the "Hosotsuji Ihee Maiko Art Exhibition" from May 27 to June 9, 2026, at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store. The exhibition focuses on the theme of "Maiko," an iconic symbol of Kyoto's Hanamachi (geisha district) culture. The centerpiece will be the 12.5-meter-long tenugui artwork "100 Maiko," alongside displays of actual kimonos, obis, and accessories worn by maiko. The event will also feature talk shows with maiko and Japanese painters, as well as a participatory workshop for visitors, offering a multi-faceted look into the charm of maiko culture.
