Rikei Joins Space Co-creation Program 'MUGENLABO UNIVERSE'

Rikei Corporation has announced its participation as a partner in the 'MUGENLABO UNIVERSE' open innovation program for the space sector, promoted by KDDI Corporation.

With a 40-year track record in providing satellite communication and space-related equipment, Rikei intends to accelerate co-creation with startups and companies from diverse industries through this partnership. The goal is to promote the practical social implementation of space technology and generate new business ventures.

About 'MUGENLABO UNIVERSE'

Launched by KDDI in May 2024, 'MUGENLABO UNIVERSE' is a program designed to foster the co-creation of space businesses and solve terrestrial challenges using space technology, involving startups, cross-industry enterprises, large corporations, and experts.

The program provides an environment conducive to business creation through the provision of diverse demonstration testbeds, matching opportunities, and knowledge sharing from space industry experts.

It is part of the 'TIB CATAPULT' project, which supports global innovation clusters in Tokyo. This includes financial support for startups, collaboration assistance between large corporations and other participants, and utilization of the Tokyo Innovation Base as a platform, all aimed at enhancing business growth and corporate value.

Rikei's Initiatives

Through co-creation with 'MUGENLABO UNIVERSE' participants, Rikei aims to drive the space business and create solutions for social issues, primarily in the following fields:

・Space x Disaster Management Utilizing satellite data for rapid disaster impact assessment during events such as earthquakes and tsunamis, and providing emergency network infrastructure for affected areas.

・Manufacturing Supply Chain Collaborating with other participants to build a domestic supply chain for satellite-mounted components.

・Lunar Surface Considering future lunar business prospects, Rikei will explore new themes, such as supplying components capable of functioning in extreme environments and evaluating communication infrastructure.

Future Outlook

By participating in this program, which features diverse demonstration fields—including low-Earth orbit satellites, digital twins, and ground-applied technologies—Rikei aims to provide solutions that fuse its high-reliability hardware with its deep technical expertise. The company is committed to contributing to solving terrestrial challenges in disaster, infrastructure, and industrial fields while expanding its space business.

Furthermore, Rikei plans to maximize the 'TIB CATAPULT' framework to create next-generation business opportunities.
