Ryukyu Shimpo is organizing a summer internship for students from within and outside Okinawa Prefecture to experience the diverse work of a newspaper company. The program runs for five days from August 31 to September 4. Participants will learn not only about reporting on various topics related to Okinawa, but also about advertising sales, event management, and newspaper distribution outlet management.
Schedule: 5 days from Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4, 2026. Usually 10:00-17:00, with Wednesday, September 2 expected to be 14:00-21:00.
Location: Ryukyu Shimpo (1-10-3 Izumizaki, Naha City) and various locations within the prefecture.
Capacity: Approximately 10 people (selection will be based on application reasons if oversubscribed).
Eligibility: Students expected to graduate in March 2028, or students interested in newspaper companies.
Content: Learn about the significance and history of reporting related to Okinawa, experience accompanying reporters on assignments and writing articles. Learn about newspaper advertising sales, event management, and newspaper distribution outlet management. Conduct interviews with employees.
Conditions: Transportation, food, travel, and accommodation expenses are to be borne by the participant. Please use public transportation as there is no parking.
