Semba Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Jun Odagiri) has opened 'SEMBA BIM BUSINESS SCHOOL' to contribute to the promotion of BIM (Building Information Modeling) in the interior display industry. The company is starting to provide its internally developed interior BIM education programs as an external educational service.
Background In 2025, Semba signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a strategic partnership with Autodesk, a global leader in BIM, focusing on constructing a Common Data Environment (CDE) and reforming business processes. Recently, BIM utilization has been spreading in the interior display industry for information coordination and efficiency. However, there is a shortage of talent capable of using BIM due to workflows unique to the interior industry, distinct from general construction. Semba has focused on BIM environments centering on Autodesk Revit® and Autodesk Forma®, and over the past six years, more than 76% of its designers have undergone BIM training. Today, BIM is standardized across 200 projects annually, ranging from commercial facilities to clinics and public spaces. Through the MOU with Autodesk, Semba decided to return its accumulated knowledge to the industry to accelerate BIM adoption.
Overview and Features 1. Systematic Learning of Autodesk Revit® for Interiors: Using unique teaching materials based on frontline knowledge from various projects like commercial facilities and healthcare, the course offers efficient learning of basic operations. Review sessions for skill retention are also provided. 2. Support from Specialists with Practical Experience: In addition to instructors, specialist employees who have implemented BIM at Semba support students as sub-instructors, addressing individual challenges on the spot. 3. Networking Opportunities: Beyond skill acquisition, the school provides a networking space to share practical knowledge and build a community of 'allies' to accelerate industry-wide BIM promotion.
