Daimaru Shimonoseki Store and Shimonoseki City Collaborate to Promote Women's Health, Featuring Health Awareness Booths and Check-up Events, Triggered by Mother's Day

Daimaru Shimonoseki Store and Shimonoseki City will hold a health awareness project "~Happy & Healthy Mother's Day~ A Special Day to Give Health and Care to Mom" at Daimaru Shimonoseki Store from Friday, May 1st to Sunday, May 10th, 2026.

The purpose of this project is to provide an opportunity for families to think about health, triggered by Mother's Day, and to promote understanding of women's health and cancer screenings.

During the period, a health awareness booth will be set up, and message cards will be distributed to purchasers of Mother's Day gifts. In addition, on Saturday, May 9th and Sunday, May 10th, a health check event will be held by the Health Promotion Division of Shimonoseki City Hall.

1. Implementation Period

10 days from Friday, May 1, 2026, to Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10.

Daimaru Shimonoseki Store entire building, Daimaru Shimonoseki Store 1st floor main entrance event space.

3. Activities

(1) Distribution of message cards to Mother's Day gift purchasers

Period: Friday, May 1st - Sunday, May 10th, 2026

Location: Daimaru Shimonoseki Store entire building Message cards will be distributed to those who purchase Mother's Day gifts at Daimaru Shimonoseki Store. The cards include information on Shimonoseki City's screenings for women-specific cancers such as breast cancer and cervical cancer, and can be used as is or cut out.

(2) Installation of Mother's Day health awareness booth

Period: Friday, May 1st - Sunday, May 10th, 2026

Location: Daimaru Shimonoseki Store 1st floor main entrance event space A health awareness booth will be set up by the Health Promotion Division of Shimonoseki City Hall, featuring POPs and flyers related to women's health and cancer screenings.

(3) Implementation of Mother's Day health check event

Period: Saturday, May 9th - Sunday, May 10th, 2026, 10:00 - 16:00 (scheduled)

Location: Daimaru Shimonoseki Store 1st floor main entrance event space A health check event will be held by the Health Promotion Division of Shimonoseki City Hall.

It will include condition measurement using equipment and an experience corner with a mammo model (a model to experience breast cancer lumps by touch). *Message cards from (1) will also be distributed.

(4) Awareness cooperation by character

Period: Saturday, May 9th - Sunday, May 10th, 2026, three times a day at 10:00, 13:00, and 15:00, for about 10 minutes each.

Location: Daimaru Shimonoseki Store 1st floor main entrance event space Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store's official character "Sakura Panda" will appear at the health check event venue.

4. Purpose

Aiming to improve health awareness triggered by Mother's Day, promote understanding of women's health and cancer screenings, and create awareness opportunities through collaboration between administration and local businesses.
