Japanese interior brand AREA (NODA Japan Co., Ltd.) is pleased to announce that its 'Chair A-10' has received the WINNER award at the international design competition, NYCxDESIGN Awards, held in New York, USA. Furthermore, 'BLESSED STONE' was selected as an HONOREE. The WINNER award for Chair A-10 marks a significant milestone in the third year since the opening of AREA New York, making it the only Japanese interior brand to achieve this distinction. The NYCxDESIGN Awards is an international design competition held in New York, a global design hub. It showcases outstanding designs in various fields such as architecture, interior design, and products, evaluating entries from multiple perspectives including design quality, concept, spatiality, cultural relevance, and modernity. The winning Chair A-10 reinterprets the classic British Windsor chair through the structural principles of traditional Japanese shrine architecture. Its silhouette, inspired by the 'torii' gate, and a back structure incorporating the concepts of main and side pillars, express the quiet tension and modern structural beauty inherent in Japanese architecture. The design was highly praised for its serene presence and its ability to blend naturally into a space while maintaining a distinct character. Additionally, Chair A-10 previously received an Honorable Mention at the DNA Paris Design Awards, confirming the recognition of its design and philosophy in both Paris and New York. The HONOREE-winning BLESSED STONE is a floor lamp inspired by the fleeting moment of lightning striking a stone in a desolate landscape. It was recognized as a piece that reconstructs the serenity and spirituality of natural materials for modern spaces. Both works were designed by Go Noda, Executive Brand Director and Furniture Designer at AREA. This award embodies his brand philosophy of 'creating places filled with love.' AREA will continue to share its craftsmanship, rooted in Japanese aesthetics, with the world.
