BML Food Science Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kiyotaka Kohinata) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the contract for Nagasaki Prefecture's "FY2026 Food Manufacturing Industry Power-Up Project: Strengthening Overseas Expansion Capabilities for the Food Manufacturing Industry."

This project will provide gap assessments and introductory kick-off training for food manufacturers in Nagasaki Prefecture aiming to obtain international food safety certifications such as FSSC 22000, which are necessary for exports. The costs for the assessments and training will be fully covered by Nagasaki Prefecture, with no cost to participating businesses.

Project Background

Nagasaki Prefecture has launched the "Food Manufacturing Industry Power-Up Project" with the aim of promoting the overseas expansion of its food manufacturing businesses and strengthening their competitiveness in the international market.

In exporting to overseas markets, it is increasingly common for international food safety certifications like FSSC 22000 to be a condition of trade. However, for many small and medium-sized food manufacturers, assessing their current status, analyzing gaps against standards, and developing improvement plans for certification acquisition require specialized knowledge, posing significant human and financial burdens.

Through this project, BML Food Science, a specialist in food safety certification, will provide free support to businesses in Nagasaki Prefecture facing these challenges, helping them take the first step towards obtaining international certification.

Support Details

This project offers the following two types of support free of charge:

Gap Assessment by Certification Specialists

Certification specialists will visit the business's factory to conduct document reviews and on-site inspections. (One gap assessment per factory)

This will identify discrepancies between the company's current status and FSSC 22000 requirements, extracting challenges.

Introductory Kick-off Training for Problem Solving

Based on the gap assessment results, proposals for improvement measures and training will be provided for certification acquisition. (One training session per factory)

A roadmap will be developed to lead to future certification acquisition.

* The costs for the gap assessment and introductory kick-off training will be fully covered by Nagasaki Prefecture. There will be no cost to participating businesses.

* This project is open to the first 30 businesses on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications will close once the maximum number is reached, so please apply early.

* The scope of this project is limited to the gap assessment and introductory kick-off training. For subsequent support with certification acquisition, please consult separately. Nagasaki Prefecture annually offers a certification acquisition support program (subsidies for consulting fees, examination fees, etc.) as the "Nagasaki Regional Future Investment Promotion Fund Subsidy Project," so please inquire about that separately.
