K-LAND Online Contest: Gifu Prefecture's 7-member group "UnKnow" takes overall victory. Interview feature as prize published on Movement Press

At the online contest held by "K-LAND," the comprehensive platform for K-POP dance events hosted by Chord Prise Inc. (Headquarters: Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture, Representative Director: Naoya Kurusu), the 7-member dance team "UnKnow" based in Gifu Prefecture has achieved overall victory.

In response, an interview feature article by the dance and music culture media "Movement Press" has been created and published as a prize for their victory.

▶ What is K-LAND?

K-LAND is a comprehensive platform for K-POP dance events, offering a variety of programs including contests, showcases, guest live performances, and workshops.

Particularly for dance contests, both online and in-person judging are conducted, creating a fair and open environment accessible to participants from across Japan and around the world. It's a flagship program that not only showcases performances but also fosters growth through the process of challenge, bringing excitement and inspiration to the audience.

Furthermore, workshops are held with renowned choreographers and top dancers, gaining support as a place for skill improvement and interaction. K-LAND is a new hub for K-POP dance culture where one can experience "watching," "dancing," and "learning" all at once.

The winning team receives the prize of an interview feature article created and published by "Movement Press," a culture media outlet within our group, which is also gaining support as an opportunity to widely disseminate the process of their challenges.

After member changes, UnKnow has been active aiming for awards in various contests, and in just one year since their current formation, they have achieved overall victory in this K-LAND online contest.

The cover song was XG's "GRL GVNG." This cover was born from their admiration for the overwhelming performance of the original, and their victory came after meticulous attention to detail in the opening's intensity and the use of chairs in the choreography.

The judges for this contest were two individuals active at the forefront of the K-POP scene.

hana (Choreographer)

Having mastered various genres such as JAZZ, ballet, and HIPHOP since childhood, she has a history of winning numerous shows and contests. While known as the older sister of TWICE's Momo, hana is a choreographer who showcases her talent with powerful yet gracefully feminine dance and a unique worldview, which are hard to imagine from her petite frame.

hana's comment

"UnKnow created an atmosphere from the moment the piece began, and I was completely drawn in. Of course, each member's skill and expressiveness were outstanding, but their unity as a team and how they presented their worldview were superb. It was also impressive that they didn't just perform the choreography but expressed it as their own. Their attention to detail in capturing subtle sounds and dynamics was evident, and I believe it was a highly polished work worthy of overall victory."

RENAN (Dancer/Choreographer)

After graduating high school, he moved to South Korea alone to study dance performance. In addition to being an instructor at "Just Jerk Dance Academy" and "1 Million Dance Studio," he has appeared as a dancer in music videos and more. In recent years, he has also gained attention as a choreographer, participating in choreography for many groups/artists such as aespa, G-DRAGON, SEULGI (Red Velvet), INI, STAYC, kep1er, and XG.

RENAN's comment

"As XG's 'GRL GVNG' is a work I was involved in as the choreography director, I watched it with attention to the fine textures and nuances of the choreography. Overall, their expressiveness was rich, the worldview of their costumes matched the song well, and I felt a sense of unity as a piece. Furthermore, I believe that if they could express the dynamics, the texture of their hits, the groove, and each member's artistry even more, it would become an even more convincing performance. I look forward to their further growth!"

RENAN was the person who actually handled the choreography direction for "GRL GVNG," making this a valuable opportunity where the creator of the choreography himself served as a judge and provided comments.
