Closer Robotics (Headquarters: Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture; Representative Director: Shota Higuchi; hereafter 'Closer Robotics') has installed two 'Palletizy' compact palletizing robots at MK Cheese Co., Ltd., a company that produces high-quality cheese within the Morinaga Milk Group.
'Palletizy' is a compact collaborative robot designed to automate palletizing tasks in manufacturing environments. Its space-saving and flexible design allows for automation without the need to significantly modify existing production lines.
Background of Installation: At MK Cheese, where many female employees work, reducing the physical burden of handling heavy items was a significant challenge. By installing 'Palletizy,' the company automated the task of stacking over 700 cases (up to 10kg each) per day, successfully reducing physical strain on staff and achieving labor savings. Furthermore, leveraging the robot's compact size, the company installed it without blocking corridors or needing to change existing production line configurations, minimizing the impact on workflow. During the evaluation process, Closer Robotics personnel visited the site and conducted tests with the actual machine. The installation was completed in just one day, and production began on the same day.
Key Highlights of Installation: - Compact Design: Fits easily into existing lines due to its space-saving build. - Movable: Equipped with casters for easy relocation when changing production lines. - Intuitive Operation: Easy to operate and manage, even without specialized robotics knowledge. - High Safety: Operates safely near humans as it is a collaborative robot.
About 'Palletizy': 'Palletizy' is a package-type compact palletizing robot that achieves 'small size, simple operation, and flexible multi-product handling' simultaneously. It is equipped with proprietary software that automatically generates stacking patterns simply by inputting product dimensions, allowing for easy operation even at sites without specialized technical knowledge. Despite its compact footprint (fitting into a single-person space), it supports high stacking over 2.2m. It is being increasingly adopted in food and various manufacturing sites that require high-variety production.
