HA-LU Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Haruto Oka; hereafter 'HA-LU'), a short drama label that captivates audiences in minutes, announced that the total views for the artist Garari's song 'Haru wo Nusunde,' for which HA-LU produced both the music video and the short drama, have surpassed 3.7 million.
This work is developed as a 'new cinematic experience' where interpretation is expanded not by watching the music video alone, but by engaging with the accompanying short drama. Since its release, it has become a hot topic, primarily on social media, leading to a steady increase in views.
A story drawn in by 'preconceptions' The work centers on the relationship between the protagonist, Mashiro; his best friend, Haru; and Haru's lover, Yui. While Mashiro harbors feelings for Haru, he spends his daily life unable to express them. As he watches the relationship between Haru and Yui from up close, the three remain close but are somehow out of sync. During a visit to the beach, Mashiro impulsively takes Haru's hand and dives into the sea—but this is not reality; it is an image created by Mashiro's inner desires. Called by Haru, who says 'Come on,' Mashiro returns to his usual daily life. In the end, the viewer realizes that Mashiro was gazing exclusively at 'Haru' all along.
A new video project across MV and Short Drama This project, 'Haru wo Nusunde,' is a video project that develops across two formats: music video and short drama, starting from the song. Unlike traditional music videos that are 'standalone videos expressing the world of the song,' this work adopts a structure where the way the story is perceived and interpreted changes by linking with the short drama. The music video portrays the 'outline' of unspoken emotions through non-verbal expressions like gaze and distance, while the short drama focuses on the daily life and conflicts beforehand, complementing the relationships and emotional backgrounds of the characters. The design ensures that even the same scene changes meaning depending on the viewing order or perspective, realizing a 'participatory content' video expression that does not end with just one viewing.

Director's Comment Sota Eto When Garari-san approached me about using BL as the theme, I wanted to create a project that breaks preconceptions. When hearing 'a trio,' many people unconsciously imagine a mix of genders. I think that sense remains deeply rooted, even now when diversity is discussed. That is why I chose a structure that betrays that assumption at the end, hoping it would be a trigger to think about the kindness of imagination. I hope it reaches as many people as possible.
