if Inc. (Headquarters: Nakano-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yasuyuki Ito) announces the progress of its AI adoption support program tailored for the manufacturing industry. if addresses industry-specific challenges such as knowledge silos, reliance on veteran staff, administrative workload, and stagnation in in-house tool development due to IT talent shortages. The company combines Claude Code training, generative AI workshops, and hands-on coaching to help enterprises improve their existing operations and systems. It has now been decided that a manufacturing company (name withheld) will begin a 3-month Claude Code training program for 11 participants this summer.
Challenges Facing the Manufacturing Industry
While expectations for AI adoption and business automation are rising in manufacturing, the following structural challenges are widely observed:
Knowledge Silos and Veteran Dependence: Judgments and procedures based on years of experience are accumulated within individuals, making standardization and knowledge transfer difficult.
Administrative and Documentation Workload: A significant amount of labor is spent on routine tasks via paper or Excel, such as order processing, inventory, production management, and quality records.
Lack of IT Talent Hinders In-House Tool Development: Staff who best understand on-site challenges lack the means to build their own tools and are forced to rely on external outsourcing.
These issues cannot be resolved by one-off tool implementations alone. There is a growing need for on-site staff to master AI and continuously improve their own workflows.
What if’s Coaching Support Can Achieve
if’s coaching support does not place trainees on a pre-defined track. Instead, it focuses on improving the company’s own track—its existing operations and systems.
Improvement Aligned with Existing Operations and Core Systems: Starting from actual on-site documents, management tasks, and data flows, if collaborates to identify areas that can be automated or optimized using AI.
In-House Automation Through Claude Code: Trainees learn by doing, acquiring the ability to build tools and automation systems for their own responsibilities.
On-Site Staff Development Through Coaching-Based Training: Rather than concluding with a one-time lecture, instructors accompany participants throughout the program, continuously supporting them through challenges and questions about applying AI to their work.
The key differentiator of if’s support is its aim to empower on-site staff to become self-sufficient using AI, rather than continuing to outsource tool development externally.
