Initialsite Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative: Kikuchi Kazuyoshi) conducted a survey of 400 job seekers and new graduates to clarify the information gathering behavior of job seekers in new graduate recruitment. Previous surveys have shown that corporate SNS has become 'information that is expected to be viewed' for job seekers and new graduates, and that viewing SNS leads to subsequent actions such as attending briefing sessions, checking company websites, workplace visits, and applications. In this third survey, we focused on how corporate SNS is involved in 'final target company selection' and 'comparison of companies under the same conditions.' The results showed that SNS is not just an entry point for information collection but is becoming a decision-making factor when considering which company to choose.
Survey Overview
Survey Method: Internet Survey Survey Target: Job Seekers and New Graduates * Conducted among those with experience viewing corporate SNS and short videos, and participating in company briefing sessions, interviews, internships, etc. Valid Responses: 400 Survey Month: May 2026
72.8% Responded That SNS Was a 'Deciding Factor or Decision-Making Material' in Final Target Company Selection
When asked about the role of SNS in the final decision to choose a target company, 20.0% said it was a 'deciding factor,' and 52.8% said it was 'one of the decision-making materials,' totaling 72.8% who considered SNS as a decision-making material for choosing a target company. Additionally, 17.3% responded that SNS played a role in 'deepening company understanding,' indicating that corporate SNS is also involved in pre-application company understanding and desire formation.
71.3% Responded That the Presence and Content of SNS Are 'Important' When Comparing Companies
When asked about the importance of the presence and content of SNS when comparing companies, 32.0% said it was 'very important,' and 39.3% said it was 'somewhat important,' totaling 71.3% who considered it important when comparing companies. This suggests that job seekers are also checking the atmosphere of the workplace, the appearance of employees, and the real image of the job content on SNS, which are not easily understood from job information or company websites.
46.3% Responded That They Would Choose a Company with a 'Well-Developed SNS' If Given Two Companies with Similar Conditions
When asked which company they would choose if there were two companies with similar conditions, 46.3% of respondents said they would choose the company with a 'well-developed SNS.' On the other hand, only 9.5% said they would choose a company with 'no/limited SNS.' When conditions such as salary, location, and job content are similar, the atmosphere and working image of the company conveyed on SNS may influence the final choice.
78.5% Responded That They 'Trust' Corporate SNS Information
When asked about the trustworthiness of corporate SNS information, 29.0% said they 'trust it very much,' and 49.5% said they 'trust it to some extent,' totaling 78.5% who trust corporate SNS information. While SNS is a source of information that can be easily viewed, it is also perceived as a certain level of reliable information for job seekers and new graduates to check the atmosphere of the company and the appearance of employees.
Summary
This survey revealed that corporate SNS is not just an entry point for job seekers and new graduates to learn about companies but is also a decision-making material for final target company selection and company comparison. 72.8% of respondents considered SNS as a 'deciding factor or decision-making material' in final target company selection, and 71.3% considered the presence and content of SNS important when comparing companies. Additionally, when presented with companies under similar conditions, those who would choose a company with a 'well-developed SNS' far outnumbered those who would choose a company with 'no/limited SNS.' In the first survey, it was shown that corporate SNS is taken for granted. In the second survey, it was shown that corporate SNS leads to subsequent actions. And in this third survey, it became clear that corporate SNS is involved in company comparison and target company selection. In other words, corporate SNS in new graduate recruitment is not just for recognition. SNS has the potential to be one of the reasons why a company is chosen in the end.
