Spiro, which recently completed a large $215 million funding round, has strengthened its management team for the next phase of expansion across Africa by appointing Anant Bajaj as the company's Group CEO.

Anant Bajaj previously led IndiaFirst Energy, a joint venture between IndianOil and Sun Mobility, where he built one of India's largest battery-swapping networks. This network has over 1,800 stations and serves approximately 90,000 vehicles daily.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – June 9, 2026 – Spiro, a leading electric mobility company in Africa, today announced the appointment of Anant Bajaj as Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Mr. Bajaj brings over 20 years of extensive management experience in building and scaling businesses in the electric mobility, energy, and industrial sectors across India, the Middle East, and Africa.

Most recently, he served as CEO of IndiaFirst Energy, a joint venture between IndianOil and Sun Mobility, where he led the creation of one of India's largest battery-swapping networks, comprising over 1,800 stations and servicing approximately 90,000 vehicles per day.

This appointment comes at a critical time, immediately after Spiro successfully raised $215 million, one of the largest investments in the African electric mobility sector.

Spiro is accelerating its mission to transform mobility across Africa, and Mr. Bajaj will oversee a wide range of areas including battery swapping, leasing, logistics, energy, and vehicle manufacturing. Kaushik Barman, CEO of the Mobility division, will further strengthen Spiro's leadership and competitiveness in its existing seven markets and beyond.
