Shibuya Joshi International School (hereinafter 'the school'), which teaches next-generation skills such as English conversation, video production, and social media management, conducted an experiential outreach class on Friday, July 3, 2026, hosted by the 'Shibuya Yami-Baito Zero Project' (organized by DIP Corporation and Shibuya Mirai Design General Incorporated Association, with cooperation from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Anonymous and Mobile Crime Unit Task Force).

Centered on the 'Illegal Job Detection Quiz' co-developed with the intellectual entertainment group 'QuizKnock,' the session provided students with a practical opportunity to develop their ability to independently identify illegal part-time job offers.

Background: The Danger Between 'Knowing' and 'Recognizing'

According to survey data released by DIP, approximately 90% of high school students are aware of the term 'yami-baito' (illegal part-time jobs). However, when presented with actual job listings, about 70% said they 'cannot distinguish them from regular job postings,' and it has been revealed that one in four high school students in Tokyo has already been exposed to suspicious job offers.

This gap in awareness—'knowing the term' but 'failing to recognize the tactics'—creates a risk that young people may unknowingly become involved in criminal activities. In response to this reality, the school actively participated in this educational initiative.

Class Report

### 1. Starting with Reflecting on the Meaning of 'Working'

The session began with a discussion on the essence of 'working.' Presenting survey data on Japan's labor market and high school students' part-time job experiences, the class highlighted how part-time work experience directly influences corporate hiring decisions.

It was also pointed out that students' tendency to prioritize 'high hourly wages' when choosing jobs unknowingly increases their risk of encountering illegal job offers, helping students internalize the issue as personally relevant.

### 2. Experiencing Tactics Through QuizKnock's 'Illegal Job Detection Quiz'

In the following workshop, the entire class participated in the 'Illegal Job Detection Quiz,' co-developed with QuizKnock. Beyond simply learning correct answers, students were taught to identify specific red flags—such as suspicious wording or unrealistic promises—enabling them to detect discomfort and make sound judgments when encountering similar content on social media.

At the conclusion of the class, students were strongly encouraged to consult trusted adults—such as parents or teachers—whenever they encounter suspicious information, rather than keeping concerns to themselves.

Teacher's Comment

Since part-time jobs are a topic of great interest to high school students, it was impressive to see the students remain engaged and focused throughout. We frequently receive student reports about receiving suspicious messages via social media, so we hoped this session would equip them with tools to protect themselves from hidden dangers in their surroundings. The statistic that 'one in four students has encountered suspicious job offers' was surprising even to us as educators. However, through the quiz developed with QuizKnock, we believe the students were able to internalize the issue as personally relevant. Especially for first-year high school students—who are at the peak of interest in part-time jobs—gaining accurate knowledge just before summer break holds significant value. We hope this initiative, launched in the influential district of Shibuya, will expand nationwide in the future.

Student Comment

Thanks to the quiz format, I was able to realistically understand the dangers and tactics of illegal jobs. I now know to watch out for suspicious terms like 'white-case jobs' and will always consult an adult if I feel uncertain when looking for new part-time work.

Moreover, I want to not only stay alert myself but also warn my friends if they are invited to suspicious jobs, so I can help protect those around me.
