Oceanic Constellations (the "Company") entered into a strategic supply chain partnership agreement with Yusen Logistics Co., Ltd. ("YLK") on May 25, 2026.
Oceanic Constellations is a marine startup aiming to provide services such as wide-area marine monitoring and data collection by deploying numerous unmanned surface vessels (USVs) at sea, integrating marine communication network control, energy management, and swarm control technologies. Its USV constellation, 'Umi no Eiseigun®', is a new marine infrastructure concept designed to transform marine understanding, monitoring, and utilization—traditionally reliant on manpower, large vessels, and satellites—into an unmanned, labor-saving, and continuous operation.
Social implementation of the USV constellation requires not only developing individual units but also building a base for mass production, logistics, and supply chain management to stably manufacture, deploy, operate, and maintain a large number of USVs. Particularly, as the project shifts from R&D and pilot stages to mass production and commercialization, it is crucial to integrate the design of procurement, manufacturing, outfitting, inspection, storage, transportation, deployment, maintenance, and international expansion.
To date, the Company has worked with the NYK Line Group to create new industries centered on the 'Marine x Space' theme, including collaborations on reusable ocean-recovery rockets, integration scenario validation systems for rocket recovery, and the construction of marine-based space infrastructure such as offshore rocket launches.
Furthermore, the Company is engaged in USV mass production demonstrations with the NYK Group’s Keihin Dock Co., Ltd. By utilizing the field expertise of Keihin Dock in shipbuilding, repair, and outfitting, the Company is moving beyond test units to mass-production demonstrations that ensure the stable manufacture, maintenance, and operation of numerous units—a critical step in implementing 'Umi no Eiseigun®' as social infrastructure.
This strategic partnership with YLK extends this series of collaborations with the NYK Group into the realm of logistics and supply chain management. By leveraging the expertise of NYK Line, Keihin Dock, and YLK—Japan’s leading shipping group—the Company will step-by-step build a system to 'build,' 'transport,' 'deploy,' and 'continuously operate' its USVs.
Based on this agreement, the Company and YLK will hold phased discussions and promote initiatives such as building site-to-site logistics for development, manufacturing, testing, and operations; supporting supply chain management for mass production; managing transportation, storage, and inventory for parts and finished units; and studying international logistics schemes for future overseas demonstrations and deployment.
Oceanic Constellations aims to deploy its USV constellation in diverse use cases, ranging from domestic coastal waters to international seas, for marine monitoring, offshore infrastructure preservation, marine data acquisition, maritime security, and offshore space infrastructure support. Realizing this requires a global supply chain capable of standardizing the manufacturing, maintenance, and operation models established domestically and supplying necessary units, parts, and assets at the right time and place. Through this partnership, the Company is stepping up its preparations to expand the Japan-born USV constellation business into the global market. Utilizing the NYK Group’s expertise in shipping, shipbuilding, repair, and supply chain management, the Company will steadily build its USV mass-production system, contributing to the creation of new marine industries originating from the Japanese maritime cluster.
