ScentifAI Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, CEO: Shunichiro Kuroki, hereinafter referred to as "ScentifAI") is pleased to announce that it has commenced a joint Proof of Concept (PoC) with a global technology company to evaluate the effectiveness of its chemical sensing technology in next-generation AI computing systems. This PoC will leverage ScentifAI's silicon CMOS-based chemical sensing technology to verify the acquisition and utilization potential of chemical information generated in complex operational environments. The project is currently underway, and in the future, the reproducibility of acquired data, stability in operational environments, and applicability to AI analysis will be evaluated in stages.

Background

In recent years, with the rapid development of generative AI and high-performance computing, information processing infrastructure, various systems, and infrastructure have become larger and more densely integrated. In such environments, acquiring and analyzing a wider range of information than ever before is required to maintain high levels of stable operation, safety, and operational efficiency.

Conventional system monitoring has primarily focused on physical information such as temperature, power consumption, pressure, and vibration. On the other hand, chemical signals generated by changes in equipment and the environment remain an underutilized information domain.

ScentifAI proposes a new concept called "Digital Olfactory AI," which treats this chemical environmental information as data that AI can understand. Just as visual and auditory information have supported the advancement of AI, we believe that chemical information will also become an important information layer for understanding the real world in the future.

Overview of Joint PoC

In this PoC, we will evaluate the potential for acquiring chemical information in the field of next-generation computing infrastructure using ScentifAI's proprietary silicon CMOS-based chemical sensing and AI platform.

In the evaluation project, we will jointly verify the following aspects:

Detectability of chemical signals

Stability and reproducibility of sensor response

Data acquisition methods in complex operational environments

Applicability to AI analysis

Potential for future anomaly detection and operational optimization

Please note that this is currently in the PoC stage, and decisions regarding evaluation results and commercialization will be made through the ongoing verification process.

The World Digital Olfactory AI Aims For

ScentifAI is building a technological foundation to digitize chemical information perceived by human olfaction and convert it into a form that AI and computers can understand. We refer to this as "Digital Olfactory AI" and position it as a new AI recognition domain following visual AI and auditory AI.

In the future, we envision applications in a wide range of industrial fields, including physical AI fields such as robotics and robotaxis, environmental monitoring, infrastructure monitoring, status assessment of industrial equipment, manufacturing quality control, safety management, healthcare, and next-generation air conditioning equipment.

Comment from Representative and CEO Shunichiro Kuroki

"We believe that odor and chemical information will become important information sources in next-generation AI. This joint PoC is a crucial step in verifying that potential under conditions close to actual operating environments. ScentifAI will continue to aim for a future where humans and AI can understand the real world more deeply through the social implementation of Digital Olfactory AI."
