UNDERTALE WIND SYMPHONY in KYOTO Announced

"Ketsui" resonates with powerful live performance. A concert delivering the music of UNDERTALE through wind orchestra, 'UNDERTALE WIND SYMPHONY in KYOTO', will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 (national holiday) at Kyoto Concert Hall.

This will be the first official wind orchestra concert of UNDERTALE in Japan.

UNDERTALE is a role-playing game developed by Toby Fox and released in 2015.

With its unique characters, humorous and surprising story, and a distinctive gameplay experience that changes based on player choices, it has been beloved by fans worldwide, including in Japan, since its release.

Among its features, the in-game music is an indispensable and major charm of the work.

Impressive melodies, emotionally stirring developments, and pieces deeply connected to the characters and story are etched into the memories of many who have played the game.

Performing the music of UNDERTALE this time is the Osaka Shion Wind Orchestra, a symphonic wind orchestra with the longest history and tradition in Japan, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023.

The conductor will be Tomo Nishimura.

With the overwhelming sound pressure unique to wind instruments, the breath of wind instruments, and the dynamism created by percussion, the music of UNDERTALE will resonate in a new form. Unlike an orchestra, we will deliver a special concert that awakens memories of that story with power and heat that reaches directly to the body.

Osaka Shion Wind Orchestra Profile

Osaka Shion Wind Orchestra is a symphonic wind orchestra with the longest history and tradition in Japan, which celebrated its 100th anniversary on June 1, 2023.

Since its birth in 1923 (Taisho 12), it has been affectionately known as 'Shion', and in 2014 it was privatized from direct management by Osaka City. In March 2015, it was renamed from 'Osaka Municipal Music Band' to 'Osaka Shion Wind Orchestra'.

It has been dedicated to the improvement and development of musical culture through a wide range of activities, including concerts enjoyed by everyone from classical to popular, performances in various cities, wind instrument workshops, and CD recordings.

Awards include the Osaka Culture Festival Award, Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association Award, Japan Wind Orchestra Academy Award Performance Division, Osaka Art Award, Naniwa Grand Prize, and Critics Club Special Award.

Currently, the music director is Akira Miyagawa, principal guest conductor is Douglas Bostock, and honorary artistic advisor is Kazuyoshi Akiyama.
