SHIFT Launches 'SHIFT DQS for Maintenance Support' to Automate System Maintenance and Documentation via AI

SHIFT Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Dai Tange; TSE Prime: 3697), a company supporting the creation of high-quality software services and products, announced the launch of 'SHIFT DQS for Maintenance Support' on June 2, 2026. This new solution leverages AI to analyze the source code of operational systems, continuously update technical documentation, and achieve automated, standardized maintenance through AIOps.

This solution addresses the challenges of black-box systems and over-reliance on specific individuals in maintenance operations. By having AI handle tasks ranging from initial responses to predictive detection, it supports productivity improvements and the optimal allocation of IT investments. The goal is to enable companies to convert costs previously spent on maintenance into 'offensive IT investments.'

In the domestic IT market, it is projected that there will be a shortage of up to 790,000 IT professionals by 2030. In addition to this severe talent shortage, the period from 2025 to 2030 marks the peak retirement of the veteran generation that has long supported system maintenance, raising significant concerns about the loss of knowledge.

Many systems have relied on the expertise of specific individuals without properly updated documentation. This weakening of operational structures due to the loss of know-how is a serious issue for business continuity. Currently, most corporate IT budgets are consumed by 'defensive IT costs' for maintaining existing systems, preventing the reallocation of resources to 'offensive IT investments' such as DX promotion and new service development.

SHIFT has previously deployed 'SHIFT DQS for Reverse Engineering,' which uses proprietary AI technology to automatically generate 46 types of documents from source code to visualize system specifications. The core AI technology for this service is being developed and verified in collaboration with Matsuo Institute, Inc.

By combining this proven AI analysis technology with expertise in system operation standardization, 'SHIFT DQS for Maintenance Support' aims to fundamentally transform corporate IT cost structures through continuous documentation updates and AIOps-driven automation.
