Background of the Event

The responsibility of PMs has traditionally been discussed around 'delivering customer value.' However, in practice, even with talented teams and well-established development processes, many organizations still struggle to achieve results that directly contribute to business growth.

In light of this, TECH PLAY-X believes it is necessary to reframe the scope of a PM’s responsibility—not just to 'realizing customer value,' but also to 'contributing to business growth.' This perspective aligns closely with the insights presented in The Textbook for Winning Product Development, authored by Daiki Hachisuka and scheduled for release on July 22, 2026.

Given that the role and accountability of PMs are being re-examined, this event has been designed as a forum to rethink the approach to product development that drives business growth.

Event Details

The event will feature an online dialogue session between Daiki Hachisuka, author of The Textbook for Winning Product Development, and Yuta Sugai, Product Manager of the media platform TECH PLAY.

Value Proposition

This event aims to help participants reflect on challenges in their own product development and organizational contexts, and spark new thinking about decision-making and engagement that leads to business growth. As AI accelerates development speed, PMs are increasingly expected to lead product development not only toward customer value but also toward business growth. Based on Daiki Hachisuka’s insights and frontline experience, we will explore the roles and responsibilities PMs should embrace—alongside participants.

TECH PLAY-X will continue to support TECH PLAYERS who engage with these critical questions, contributing to the enhancement of Japan’s product development capabilities.

Message from the Guest Speaker

Daiki Hachisuka, Representative Director, Newbee Inc.

Today, the difficulty of 'building' a product has significantly decreased. Yet, I feel it has become even harder to create products that are truly used, sold, and drive business growth. Product success cannot be achieved through optimizing development processes alone. To bridge the gap between business and development, PMs must ask: What should we take responsibility for? What should we delegate? How should we engage with the business? In this event, I hope to explore these questions together with all participants.

Comment from the Organizer

Naho Sakamoto, Planner, TECH PLAY-X Co., Ltd.

At TECH PLAY-X, we have organized numerous events centered on product development with various companies. What we’ve noticed is that while there are many discussions about the role of PMs, there are surprisingly few forums that directly and honestly address what it truly means to be responsible for business growth. We strongly resonate with the issues Daiki Hachisuka raises in The Textbook for Winning Product Development, and we believe it’s time to revisit this topic.

We hope this event will be a space where participants can reflect on how deeply they should engage, what responsibilities they should take on, and what they should delegate—leaving with actionable insights for their decisions and actions starting tomorrow.
