On May 28, 2026, TENGA Founder and CEO Koichi Matsumoto delivered a special lecture at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences (HSD) in Germany. The event was part of the 'E-Business: Digital Business Models' course and the city's official 'Japan Week'. TENGA was invited due to its business strategy and brand building, recognized as an innovation that redefined market values and overturned social prejudices. About 40 students, faculty, and business professionals gathered at the 'Maker Space' campus hub to hear about TENGA's journey. Matsumoto shared his early experiences as a mechanic, which shaped TENGA's 'monozukuri' (craftsmanship) philosophy of creating products that truly please people. He explained the motivation behind starting the company: to transform adult products into general consumer goods and create a new category that views sexuality positively. Following three years of development, TENGA launched in 2005. By combining functionality with design and communicating playfully yet seriously, the brand gained widespread resonance. Matsumoto also discussed the expansion into the femcare market with 'iroha', continuing the mission to enrich sexuality for all.
