thePIXEL, a company dedicated to creating value through pixel art, has partnered with MIYASHITA PARK (Mitsui Fudosan) to launch 'PIXEL LAYERED,' a cultural project utilizing all 58 LED screens throughout the facility. This project will be held on a quarterly basis.

The project aims to elevate pixel art from popular culture, redefine it as 'fine art,' and explore its artistic value within society.

Building on the success of the 'e-People exhibition by eBoy' at sequence MIYASHITA PARK in 2025, 'PIXEL LAYERED' represents a new chapter, scaling the digital art context to encompass the entire facility.

Meaning of 'PIXEL LAYERED' Pixel represents the smallest unit of light, while Art is artistic expression. Rayard refers to a 'Garden of Light.' By releasing digital art into this 'Garden of Light' and overlapping it with urban activities, the project seeks to infuse its value throughout society.

Why Pixel Art is Called the 'Modern Ukiyo-e' Born from the technical constraints of the 1980s, pixel art has developed alongside popular culture, much like Ukiyo-e, which became a staple of popular art through technological innovation in woodblock printing. This project challenges the artistic value of this medium in public spaces.
