The Tanabe Chamber of Commerce (Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture) is launching "Tanahata," a work experience program designed to connect local businesses with high school and university students, running from July 22 (Wed) to August 7 (Fri), 2026. Applications are now open.

This program aims to provide students with opportunities to think about their future and the meaning of working by experiencing actual work at local enterprises.

While youth out-migration and labor shortages are pressing issues in regional areas, students often struggle with not knowing what local job opportunities exist or lacking a clear image of working locally.

"Tanahata" seeks to deepen students' understanding of regional jobs and lifestyles by offering a real-world experience beyond what can be conveyed in corporate information sessions, helping them choose their career paths.

More than just a work experience; it is an experience of meeting people who work in the region.

Participants will choose two companies and engage in 2-3 days of work experience at each. During their time, they will join employees in real-world tasks, learning about the appeal and satisfaction of the work, and the significance of working locally. Following the experience, participants will hold networking meetings with each other and the host companies to share their insights.
