[First in Japan] Pacific Sardine Fish Oil Receives Global 'Friend of the Sea' Certification!

Supported by UMITO Partners, a company promoting marine sustainability, fish oil derived from Pacific sardines produced by Ikeshita Sangyo Co., Ltd. has received the international 'Friend of the Sea (FOS)' environmental certification. This is the first such case in Japan's purse seine fishing industry. The project, which involved four companies—Ikeshita Sangyo, Kanematsu, Hamahira Fishery, and UMITO Partners—began in July 2022, and this achievement signifies that their on-site improvement efforts have met international standards. FOS certification evaluates a wide range of items, including resource sustainability, legal compliance, impact on ecosystems, and working environments, and this acquisition is expected to enhance competitiveness in the global market.
