Dr. Rohit Bakshi, Representative Director of UNIVA RBL, held a press conference in Otemachi, Tokyo, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to announce the 'RBL (Royal Basketball League)' SEASON 1. The event officially unveiled the league overview, the schedule across five Japanese cities (Shinjuku, Nagoya, Kyoto, Kumamoto, and the Fukuoka Final), the 12 participating teams, and an international competition route leading to the world tour through the 'FIBA 3x3 Uenohara Challenger 2026.'

'RBL' is a new professional league for 3x3 basketball, led by commissioner and pioneer Dr. Rohit Bakshi.

Twelve teams will compete, starting with Round 1 in Kabukicho, Tokyo, on May 30-31, 2026. Following Rounds 2-4 in Nagoya, Kyoto, and Kumamoto, the top eight teams will advance to the Final Round in Fukuoka on July 29-30.

The top five teams from Rounds 1 and 2 of RBL SEASON 1 will qualify for the 'FIBA 3x3 Uenohara Challenger 2026,' held on August 8-9, 2026, in Uenohara City, Yamanashi Prefecture. This tournament serves as a qualifier for the Debrecen Masters, part of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, where top-tier global teams will compete.

At the press conference, UNIVA RBL Chairman Shuji Inaba and Representative Director Dr. Rohit Bakshi shared their vision for the league. Chairman Inaba emphasized the power of sports to connect people, while Dr. Bakshi explained the league's international standing.

The opening tournament, 'Shinjuku Round,' will be held at Cine City Square in Kabukicho, Tokyo, on May 30-31, 2026.
