On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, ISI Japanese Language School, operated by WEWORLD Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masaaki Ogino), welcomed Fumiko Kashiwa, UNHCR Representative in Japan, and other officials to the ISI Language School Shinjuku Campus. As part of its social responsibility, ISI has been operating the 'Refugee Support Special Scholarship Program' since 2022 with the backing of the UNHCR Representation in Japan. The program provides free, long-term Japanese language education to those who have fled to Japan due to conflict or persecution, having accepted a total of 90 students as of May 2026. During the visit, the school reported on its refugee support activities, conducted a campus tour, and held a dialogue with current refugee scholarship students. It was an opportunity to deepen discussions on continuing support activities and future collaboration while observing the Japanese language education environment firsthand.
