Yokohama Cosmo World, an urban amusement park operated by Senyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President and Representative Director: Yusaku Yamada), will simultaneously open two new attractions, "Great Moon" and "Super Flare," on July 11, 2026 (Sat).

This introduction of new attractions marks the largest-scale renovation since Yokohama Cosmo World's grand opening in its current form in 1999. Two new thrill rides will open, replacing the "Super Planet" attraction that has been loved for many years.

Following a construction period of approximately nine months, including the removal of existing facilities, new experiences of surprise and excitement will be delivered to the city of Yokohama's Minato Mirai district.

Two New Attractions Inspired by the Moon and Sun

The new attractions, "Great Moon" and "Super Flare," leverage the "cosmo" (universe) theme inherent in the name Yokohama Cosmo World, with motifs of the moon and sun.

"Great Moon" is a pendulum-type attraction inspired by the moon. It swings left and right as it ascends, offering a feeling of weightlessness at the moment it transitions from its highest point to descent.

"Super Flare" is a rotating attraction inspired by the sun. Seats with dangling legs rapidly spin upwards, transitioning from horizontal to vertical rotation. Its continuously changing movements provide an intense sensation of gravity and exhilaration.

Each of the two attractions offers a different experience of weightlessness, speed, and thrills.

Origin of the Names

Yokohama Cosmo World originated from the "Cosmo World" leisure zone at the Yokohama Expo '89 held in 1989. At that time, the park's attractions were all named with themes related to space, fitting its name. Following this tradition, the moon-inspired attraction was named "Great Moon," and the sun-inspired attraction was named "Super Flare."

Additionally, the adjacent attraction, "Galaxy," representing the galaxy (stars), has been a long-loved attraction since the 1989 Yokohama Expo.

About Yokohama Cosmo World

Yokohama Cosmo World was established in 1990. The previous year, in 1989, Senyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. participated in the "Yokohama Expo '89" with the giant Ferris wheel "Cosmo Clock 21" and the amusement zone "Cosmo World." The giant clock-type Ferris wheel, which was the world's largest at the time, became a major attraction, drawing 2.67 million visitors out of the expo's 13.3 million attendees.

After the expo, due to requests from citizens and various parties to keep the giant Ferris wheel, it reopened as "Yokohama Cosmo World" with several attractions in 1990. In 1999, with the development progress in the Minato Mirai area, the giant Ferris wheel was relocated to its current position. Expanding its area, "Yokohama Cosmo World" relaunched as an urban amusement park centered around Cosmo Clock 21, and has since been enjoyed by many Yokohama residents, as well as leisure and tourist visitors, contributing to Yokohama's tourism promotion and vibrant city development.
