Kumamoto City (Mayor: Kazushi Onishi) will hold the "-10th Anniversary of Kumamoto Earthquake- Disaster Prevention Panel Exhibition" at the Setagaya Ward Office in Tokyo, starting April 17, 2026, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake. This event aims to express gratitude for past support and exhibit records of the 10-year recovery from the disaster and lessons learned in disaster prevention. Through the cross-regional connection between Kumamoto City and Setagaya Ward, the exhibition seeks to enhance disaster prevention awareness in urban areas.

The exhibition will take place from April 17, 2026 (Friday) to May 1, 2026 (Friday), from 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM (first day from 9:00 AM, last day until 4:50 PM; closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays). The venue is the 10th-floor observation lobby of the Setagaya Ward Office East Building (4-21-27 Setagaya, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo). It is organized by Kumamoto City and cooperated by Setagaya Ward.

Kumamoto City and Setagaya Ward have maintained deep exchanges for many years, initiated by the historical connection through the literary giant Tokutomi Roka, who spent his childhood in Kumamoto and his later years in Setagaya. Currently, Kumamoto's local products and tourism are continuously promoted at Setagaya's representative events such as the "Setagaya Furusato Kumin Matsuri," "Setagaya Boroichi," and "Karasuyama Region Roka Matsuri." Furthermore, multifaceted collaborations, including participation in the "Setagaya 246 Half Marathon," are pursued, transcending cultural and sports boundaries.
