NPO Kizuna Mail Project (Toshima Ward, Tokyo), which works to prevent "kodoku-sodate" (child-rearing in isolation) through its "Kizuna Mail" content, released the "Kizuna Mail Anyone Edition" (hereinafter, registration guide LP) on June 12th, allowing anyone, regardless of location in Japan or even overseas, to register for Kizuna Mail.

This enables easy access to a safety net even if a municipal version of Kizuna Mail is not available in your area.

In addition, the "new maternity period content," designed to support diverse child-rearing environments and which began rolling out last month, has also been applied to the "Anyone Edition." This time, we are releasing comments from the two doctors and experts who supervised the content.

Background and Objective: Expanding the "Kodoku-sodate Prevention" Safety Net Nationwide

Until now, the organization has provided Kizuna Mail, including region-specific information, through 34 municipal and medical institutions across the country. However, many regions have yet to adopt it.

Therefore, from a public interest perspective, the organization has established a new pathway (registration guide LP) for easy registration from anywhere in Japan. Simultaneously, the foundational "maternity period content" has been revamped to align with modern diverse lifestyles and child-rearing environments. The content has been updated so that not only mothers, but also fathers and the entire family can embrace it as their own and support each other's child's growth.

Three Key Points of the New "Registration Guide LP"

1. Easy Smartphone Operation, Quick Registration During Free Moments

With a screen optimized for smartphones, even first-time visitors can smoothly complete their registration. You can operate it without stress during commutes or brief moments between childcare and work.

2. Seamless Transition from Region Selection, Also Serves as a "Baton"

Simply select your region from the dropdown menu to easily transition to the registration website of the adopting municipality. For non-adopting regions, you will be guided to the "Kizuna Mail Anyone Edition," which delivers basic content for the period from pregnancy to one year of age. This is expected to function as a "baton between municipalities," maintaining continuous support when relocating from an adopting region to a non-adopting one.

3. "Free" and "Ad-Free" for Safe and Secure Access for Everyone

To ensure users can safely access correct knowledge and information, "Free" and "Ad-Free" are clearly indicated on the screen. A flat information environment is provided for everyone involved in child-rearing.

Comments from Supervising Doctors and Experts

Regarding the renewal of the basic content, we have received messages from two doctors and experts who support this project, highlighting the key changes and offering messages to modern child-rearing households.

Dr. Hiroshi Murakami (Professor, Department of Perinatal Mental Health, Faculty of Medicine, Shinshu University)

From pregnancy to childbirth and child-rearing, various things progress like an escalator. However, some pregnant women struggle to keep up with this flow and experience distress. While parental leave is being promoted for fathers, whether to take it or not should be decided by each couple and not be forced. The mental health of couples is very important and must be protected. I support the renewal of Kizuna Mail content, which values perinatal mental health.

Ms. Masami Baba (Chief, Nutrition Management Section, Kanagawa Prefectural Institute of Mental Health Nutrition Management, Kanagawa)

Family structures, lifestyles, and eating habits have changed over time. However, the importance of adequate nutritional intake during pregnancy for the health of both mother and child remains unchanged. Kizuna Mail is periodically re-supervised to ensure that correct information is delivered responsibly, with the reader's existence in mind. I am happy if the spread of the "Anyone Edition" can help many people spend the precious period leading up to the encounter with their new life healthily.
