What is Mercado Rico?

In Spanish, Mercado means "market" and Rico means "rich, delicious."

It is a specialty market organized by Tamashima Shinkin Bank, regularly held since April 2022, gathering "delicious" and "good" products.

The initiative began with the desire to do something for the client restaurants that were severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is also held with the aim of revitalizing the use of the open space at "Achi Terrace Kurashiki," a complex facility for commerce, residence, public services, and medical care that opened in 2021, creating foot traffic from the Bikan Historical Quarter to the opposite side of the main street, and supporting restaurants located in "Achi Terrace Kurashiki" by creating vibrancy.
