Den-en Shuzo Co., Ltd. (CEO: Shunichiro Hombo, Headquarters: Satsumasendai, Kagoshima) is pleased to announce that its 'Den-en ENVELHECIDA' won the "Jury's Prize" and "Platinum Prize" in the barrel-aged category at the Kura Master 2026 Honkaku Shochu & Awamori Competition held in Paris, France. Furthermore, 'Den-en Gold Label' received the "Gold Prize" in the same category. 'Den-en ENVELHECIDA' is an authentic sweet potato shochu characterized by its amber color and a complex, deep aroma from barrel aging. It achieves a mellow and sophisticated taste through being aged entirely for three years. The judges commented on its floral notes of "white flowers" and "lychee," its balanced palate, and how the subtle barrel influence adds breadth and suppleness. 'Den-en Gold Label' is a long-selling, Japan's first barrel-aged barley shochu, celebrating its 40th anniversary. Fully barrel-aged, it features sweet aromas of vanilla and caramel and is blended with over 50% base spirit aged for more than three years. Kura Master is an international competition for Japanese sake, shochu, and awamori, held in France since 2017, judged by French professionals with an emphasis on food pairing. The company vows to continue striving for quality improvement following this honor.
