About Momono-ha-yu
While the 'Day of the Ox' in summer is commonly associated with eating eel, there is also a long-standing tradition dating back to the Edo period of soaking in a bath infused with peach leaves, known as 'Ushi-yu' (Ox bath).
Peach leaves contain tannins, which have traditionally been believed to help prevent sunburn and prickly heat.
