This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Showa era. Showa was a turbulent time of war, reconstruction, and rapid economic growth. The living environment surrounding children also underwent dramatic changes. The figures of children captured in photos reflect the changing times and society. Innocent gazes, moments spent with friends, and resilient living—in this milestone year of 'Showa 100,' this exhibition introduces the lives and play of children during the Showa era through the works of 19 photographers, including renowned historical figures and those who remained active in various regions. We hope this exhibition will serve as an opportunity to trace the history of Showa and reflect on the peaceful society that connects to the present and the future we live in.
