Passing Down Kobe's Traditional Sweets: Students Design "Kawara Senbei" Pamphlet in Industry-Academic Collaboration

Kobe Design University and the Kobe Senbei Association have completed a collaborative project to revitalize "Kawara Senbei," a traditional Kobe snack. Visual Design students created the "KAWARA Heritage, KOBE BOOK," a pamphlet targeting younger generations. The booklet features pop-style illustrations, interviews with shop owners, a store map of 10 member shops, and creative recipes. Distribution begins May 17, 2026, at the Kobe Matsuri festival and will be available for free at participating stores. The project aims to bridge the gap between traditional culture and modern youth, rebranding Kawara Senbei as a vibrant Kobe cultural element for current and future generations.
