Kao Corporation (President & CEO: Yoshihiro Hasebe) will launch "Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste Lifting Whitening" on July 11, 2026, a new product from its flagship oral care brand "Pure Ora." This innovative toothpaste is designed to lift and remove dullness*1 and stains, leading to teeth's natural whiteness. "Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste" is a toothpaste paste with a carbonated*3 formula that approaches dirt and bacteria*2 in periodontal pockets*4 and between teeth. Its non-aqueous formula, which does not use water during formulation, causes carbonated*3 foam to fizz and expand when it comes into contact with moisture such as saliva during brushing, allowing fine bubbles to reach every corner of the mouth. "Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste Lifting Whitening" contains sodium polyphosphate (cleaning agent) as a whitening ingredient, which lifts and removes accumulated dullness*1 and stains*2. Furthermore, it contains a high concentration of fluoride at 1450ppm*5 to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent cavities. The flavor is a rare white sparkling taste for oral care products. It is recommended for those concerned about teeth staining, in addition to preventing periodontal disease (gingivitis/periodontitis) and cavities.

In this new commercial, the moment Yuki Yamada takes the toothpaste into his mouth, carbonated*3 foam spreads with a fizz, and immediately after, a large amount of foam erupts and envelops his entire body in a dynamic visual. Through his "surprised expression" and refreshing reaction while surrounded by foam, the commercial impressively depicts the product's characteristic carbonated*3 foam sensation and the new experience of "lifting whitening."

In addition to the new commercial, an interview video with Yamada will also be released simultaneously. He will discuss behind-the-scenes stories of the shoot, highlights of the commercial, and what he would like to be "covered in" in relation to the "covered in foam" scene, as well as share episodes from his summer vacations during his school days, offering a glimpse into a new side of Yamada.

<Commercial Story>

This commercial begins with Yuki Yamada taking a moment to relax on a sunny balcony. Gazing at the "Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste Lifting Whitening" in his hand, he starts brushing his teeth with a hint of curiosity. The moment he takes it into his mouth, carbonated*3 foam spreads with a fizz, and Yamada is surprised by the sensation. The next moment, a large amount of foam erupts from around Yamada, dynamically enveloping his entire body. The commercial concludes with Yamada holding "Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste Lifting Whitening," surprised by the spread of carbonated*3 foam.

<Commercial Making-of Overview>

To dynamically express the foaming sensation of the carbonated*3 foam, a large amount of foam was actually used, with the scene filmed with foam erupting all at once according to a countdown. In the scenes where he expresses surprise and refreshment in response to the foaming the moment he takes it into his mouth, Yamada, while covered in foam, repeatedly performed delicate acting while meticulously checking the timing. Just before the shoot, he frankly expressed his nervousness, saying, "I'm nervous," but also motivated himself and the entire crew by saying, "Let's go, I'm going to do this."

Due to the use of a large amount of foam, cleaning and preparation of the set were required after each cut, and multiple takes were performed with him completely covered in foam. Looking back on the shoot, he commented, "It was fun," showing that he enjoyed the extraordinary production. The shoot proceeded in an atmosphere of tension yet with a sense of unity among the staff.

<Yuki Yamada Special Interview Overview>

Yamada shares his candid thoughts on using "Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste Lifting Whitening," as well as his values, daily life, and what he prioritizes in first impressions, covering a wide range of topics. The interview also includes personal anecdotes, such as his summer vacation memories from his school days, offering insight into Yamada's personality.

Q. Please share your thoughts on the shoot and the highlights of the commercial.

I think the biggest highlight is the shoot where I was surrounded by a massive amount of real foam for "Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste Lifting Whitening." I really concentrated on the timing, like putting the toothbrush in my mouth according to the countdown, reacting with surprise at the moment the foam appears, and then smiling. It's not often that you're surrounded by so much foam, so the shoot itself was very fun! However, if I couldn't get it right on the first take and had to repeat it, the staff would have to clean the foam-covered set, dry it, and fix my hair, so I felt the pressure of taking up their time. It was really a battle against myself (laughs).

Q. In this commercial's production, a scene where a large amount of foam spontaneously foams up*3 and Yamada gets "covered in foam" is characteristic. If your wish could come true, what would you like to be "covered in"?

I don't mean imaginary superpowers, but there are many people in reality who have very special abilities. Like photographic memory, or extremely high IQ. I want to be covered in all sorts of special abilities within the realm of what can actually happen. So, I want to be covered in special abilities. I want to live my life covered in special abilities that don't go beyond reality, abilities that truly exist. With photographic memory, I could memorize scripts like photos just by looking at them, and there are people with incredibly high IQs. I'm curious about what kind of world I would see then. I also want 6.0 vision, as I've heard people who grew up in places like the Amazon have that. If I could be covered in all abilities that can realistically occur, I'm curious about what kind of world I would see.

Q. The newly released "Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste Lifting Whitening" is a product where carbonated*3 foam spontaneously foams up*3, reaches*2 and cleans even in crevices, prevents periodontal disease by sterilizing, and also achieves whitening*6. Please tell us about your experience and impressions of actually using it.

The carbonated*3 foam's foaming power is about 5 times stronger*7, so it's very fresh and fun that my mouth automatically fills with foam*3. At the same time, it has the function of lifting*2 stains from teeth, so it's a double benefit and I'm very happy about that. Since it hasn't been released yet, I've only had the chance to try it once, but the carbonated*3 foam really reaches everywhere. I felt like it reached even the hard-to-brush areas, which I thought was great.

When I used the Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste before the whitening version at work, people around me said, "I'll buy it too," and "I'll buy it too," and many people tried it. They also said, "It's really delicious," and I thought it was unusual to hear "delicious" about toothpaste. Many people also said, "It's really refreshing," and many people around me are using it.

Q. Summer is a season when opportunities to meet people increase. Is there anything you value about "first impressions"?

Basically, I don't know what people think of me, but I think I tend to be seen as the type who goes in aggressively. However, I really value personal space at first. I wonder if this person is someone who will talk to me, so I observe their behavior and sometimes wait until they speak to me. I'm not very good at people coming at me aggressively, so if there's a hop, step, and jump, I don't jump immediately. I value gradually closing the distance, both at work and in relationships. If someone is open-minded and says, "You can come at me," I can proceed, but if I feel it's still a bit off, I hold back. That way, I feel more comfortable, and I don't force myself. I also don't force my way into people's troubles or efforts. I definitely value personal space.

Q. The product name is "Pure Ora Carbonated Toothpaste Lifting Whitening." As summer vacation is approaching, do you have any episodes from past summer vacations (childhood or school days) that made you feel "elated" or "excited"?

I only played baseball. I think the national tournament was in the summer, and I remember walking in the opening ceremony at the Tokyo Dome. I don't remember if it was summer. I belonged to a hardball baseball club team. I worked hard and participated in the national tournament every year from 4th grade to 1st year of junior high school, and then from 1st year of junior high to 3rd year of junior high, in Little League and Senior League. I remember that we participated in the national tournament every year, whether I was a regular player or a substitute.
