Huawei Launches 'HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5': The Highest Sound Quality and ANC Performance in Its History

HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5 Release Overview

Huawei Japan has announced the launch of the 'HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5,' the latest addition to its premium FreeBuds Pro line of fully wireless earbuds. Available in Gray, Gold, and Leather Blue, the product will hit the market on May 21 (Thursday).

The suggested retail price for the Gray and Gold models is 29,480 JPY (including tax). The special Leather Blue model, the first in the series to feature synthetic leather (vegan leather), is priced at 31,680 JPY (including tax).

Advanced Audio System and Noise Cancellation

The 'HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5' features a newly developed dual-DSP and dual-DAC architecture. Equipped with a dual-driver unit—including a micro-planar diaphragm driver—it independently processes high and low frequencies. It supports the LDAC™ codec and is Hi-Res Audio certified, capable of reproducing frequencies from 10Hz to 48kHz with a transmission bitrate of up to 990kbps.

The earbuds boast the strongest Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) performance in Huawei's history, representing a 220% (2.2x) improvement over the previous model. For the first time in the Pro series, it includes spatial audio functionality, combined with head-tracking technology to provide an immersive, three-dimensional soundstage.

Enhanced Call Quality and Fit

For call quality, three microphones work in tandem with a bone-conduction VPU sensor and a multi-channel Deep Neural Network (DNN) algorithm. This setup effectively filters out ambient noise and wind (up to 10 m/s), ensuring crystal-clear voice transmission in any environment. It also supports multi-point connectivity for simultaneous use with smartphones and computers.

In terms of design, the earbuds utilize ergonomic mapping based on extensive ear-shape data, weighing approximately 5.5g per earbud (6% lighter and 7.5% smaller than the previous model). The earbuds carry an IP57 dust and water resistance rating, making them suitable for active use.

Battery Life

The battery supports up to 9 hours of continuous playback on a single charge and up to 38 hours with the charging case. Fast charging is also supported, offering approximately 4 hours of playback from a 10-minute charge.
