[60th Katsushika Fireworks Festival Memorial Project] Children's Fireworks Designs to Light Up the Katsushika Night Sky!

As a commemorative project for the 60th annual Katsushika Fireworks Festival (to be held on July 28), Katsushika Ward will host a special program for elementary school students.

This project goes beyond merely watching fireworks; it is a participatory program that allows children to learn about the depth of fireworks and design their own 'dream fireworks' beforehand. On the day of the festival, the designs created by the children will be launched as actual fireworks in the night sky over Katsushika!

1. Date and Time: Sunday, May 31, Reiwa 8 (2026) Fireworks Class (approx. 30 min, 40 participants per session): - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Fireworks Design Workshop: - 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

2. Venue: Katsushika Shibamata Tora-san Memorial Hall (6-22-19 Shibamata, Katsushika-ku)

3. Project Highlights: ★ Professional Pyrotechnician 'Fireworks Class': A professional pyrotechnician from Ikebun, the long-established fireworks manufacturing and production company responsible for Katsushika's festival, will conduct a special class at the Katsushika Shibamata Tora-san Memorial Hall. Participants will receive an original size 4 fireworks model! Content: Professionals will explain the behind-the-scenes mechanics of fireworks, such as their size, launching process, and how colors are created. Purpose: To heighten children's excitement and interest in fireworks before the event, cultivate attachment to the community, and promote the 60th anniversary festival.

★ 'Design Your Own Fireworks' Workshop: Children will draw 'their own fireworks' on a canvas. They can freely combine elements like size 4 shells, mines, comets, and smaller sizes, and select colors to create their original fireworks. Finally, they will title their creations. Pyrotechnicians will select six designs created by the children to be launched in the night sky during the festival!

4. About Ikebun Co., Ltd.: A fireworks manufacturer with over 100 years of history. In August 2025, they participated in the Festival d'Art Pyrotechnique in Cannes, France—one of the world's most prestigious fireworks competitions—representing Japan and achieving the historic feat of winning both the 'Vestale d'Or' and the 'Audience Prize.' For this Katsushika Fireworks Festival, Ikebun's world-renowned digital star mine will be showcased as a triumphant return! Founded: 1904 (Meiji 37)
