Aiiro Systems Inc. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Akira Ueda), the operator of the sake app "Sake-no-wa," has begun sequentially rolling out major renewals of its "Flavor Profile Diagnosis" function, which automatically diagnoses sake preferences into 10 types based on review comments at check-in, and "Recommendations for You," which suggests your next favorite brand from seven perspectives, starting June 27, 2026. The feature is characterized by its ability to grow the diagnosis simply by writing reviews as usual, without any diagnostic questions. The diagnostic results are statistically supported, based on actual review data. The app is compatible with iOS/Android, and downloading and using basic functions are free.

Key Points of This Release

Automatically diagnose sake preferences into 10 types simply by writing reviews as usual. No diagnostic questions are required.

The diagnostic basis is the review comments written by users. It is derived from the analysis of accumulated data.

The "Recommendations for You" function has also been completely renewed using the same data as the diagnosis. It suggests your next favorite brand from seven perspectives.

Both the diagnosis and recommendations are available for free as basic functions.

Background

Every brand has its own deliciousness, and sake becomes more enjoyable when you find something that suits your taste.

Sake-no-wa accumulates review comments that users have left when drinking sake. In this renewal, we have realized a diagnostic function that utilizes this review data and a function to recommend brands that match user preferences.

Flavor Profile Diagnosis

This function analyzes the review comments written during check-in (recording of sake consumed) using a proprietary algorithm and classifies sake preferences into the following 10 types:

Rich & Full-Bodied Type

Heavy & Solid Type

Refreshing & Light Type

Soft & Elegant Type

Mild & Comforting Type

Dry & Crisp Type

Floral & Fruity Type

Bold & Dry Type

Floral & Fresh Type

Rich & Umami Type

10 Diagnostic Types

These 10 types were designed by analyzing user review data. We have confirmed that preferences are diverse and not biased towards any particular type.

It automatically analyzes flavor expressions included in reviews written during check-in, such as "pear-like aroma" and "surprisingly clean aftertaste." The progress of the diagnosis is displayed on the "Flavor Type Diagnosis" card on your My Page, and the diagnostic results are shown once a certain number of reviews have accumulated.

Diagnosis Progress and Results

Fulfillment Level Lv.1-10: The fulfillment level increases as flavor expressions in reviews accumulate, making the diagnosis more reliable.

Results Updated Once Daily: The diagnostic results are updated each time a review is written, refining the content.

Type names, descriptions, and fulfillment levels are available for free.

Sake-no-wa+ members can view more detailed analysis.

Flavor Chart®: Visualizes preferences on six axes: Gorgeous, Rich, Heavy, Mild, Dry, and Light. It is displayed on the same scale as brands, making comparisons with brands intuitive.

Flavor Tag®: Flavor expressions extracted from your reviews that symbolize your preferences.

Check-in Tendencies: Analysis of how you enjoy sake, such as being an "explorer" who discovers new brands or a "connoisseur" who deepens their appreciation for favorites.

Flavor Chart®, Flavor Tag®, and Check-in Tendencies are Sake-no-wa+ exclusive features.

Recommendations for You

Based on the same review data as the diagnosis, this function has been reborn to suggest brands from seven perspectives.

Seven Perspectives for Recommendations for You

From Recent Check-ins: Brands with similar tendencies to those recently consumed.

Close to Your Preferences: Brands that match the preferred flavors captured by the diagnosis.

Learn More About [Specific Region/Type]: Explore a specific region you frequently drink from in more detail.

Currently Trending Brands: Brands that are currently gaining momentum across Sake-no-wa.

Prefectures Not Yet Checked In (Sake-no-wa+): An opportunity to try brands from regions not yet recorded.

Something Different (Sake-no-wa+): Discover new things outside your usual preferences from time to time.

Followed Topics (Sake-no-wa+): Brands that are being discussed among users you follow.

The name of each perspective represents the reason for recommending that brand. Sake-no-wa+ allows you to view detailed data such as compatibility with your preferences (%) and matching Flavor Tags®. Brands you have already consumed are automatically excluded, so the list only contains brands you have not yet tried.

Recommendations can be used before the diagnosis is complete, and two perspectives, "Close to Your Preferences" and "Something Different," are added upon completion of the diagnosis. As it is based on the same review data as the diagnosis, the accuracy of recommendations increases as your reviews accumulate.

Detailed displays such as compatibility with preferences (%) and some perspectives are Sake-no-wa+ exclusive features.

Development Story

Like personality quizzes, diagnostic tools that tell you what type you are are fun in themselves. Our first thought was to bring this enjoyment to sake as well.

If Sake-no-wa were to create it, it could provide a diagnosis from a flavor perspective. The reviews users write when drinking retain direct expressions of taste and aroma. With Sake-no-wa's unique approach, leveraging accumulated review data, we have created a diagnosis that is not only enjoyable but also backed by data. The classification into 10 types was also designed based on user preference tendencies.

Furthermore, the preferences revealed through reviews are also utilized in "Recommendations for You." The more reviews you write, the more accurate both the diagnosis and recommendations become. This is what we most wanted to achieve with this renewal.
