Japan University of Economics Students Lead Operation of Kumamoto Castle Reconstruction Event

On May 17, 2026, the Japan University of Economics (Dazaifu, Fukuoka; President: Asuka Tsuzuki) announced that 40 students from the Department of Arts and Creative Produce, Faculty of Business Administration, played a leading role in planning and operating the '100 Trumpets Performance at Kumamoto Castle: Prayers for Requiem, Reconstruction, and Peace.'

This event was held to mark the 10th anniversary of the Kumamoto Earthquake, serving as a special performance to deliver prayers for the victims, hopes for reconstruction, and wishes for the future through music. The solemn sounds of 100 trumpets echoed throughout Kumamoto Castle.

### Practical Project Led by Students In this project, students went beyond mere assistance, leading the entire process of event management, including planning oversight, performer management, visitor flow design, public relations, safety management, and production progress. Conducted as part of the university's formal curriculum, this initiative was realized as advanced practical education directly connected to society.

Despite temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, students performed their roles—including visitor guidance, photography, and event announcements—with dedicated coordination among team members. The venue attracted visitors of all ages, and the event concluded successfully.

### Student Comments A fourth-year student from the Department of Arts and Creative Produce remarked, 'Although it was a large-scale event and had its challenges, we were able to think and act for ourselves. I hope to utilize this experience in my job search.'
